Every Tuesday morning at 9:30, Easy Radio features the Best Friend of the Week, sponsored by our fellow pet lover Frank of ShipOnSite in Surfside Beach. It’s an opportunity for an area shelter or animal rescue group to introduce a sweet fur baby up for adoption.
When I moved to Myrtle Beach last fall, it was difficult finding a place to rent where pets were allowed, so I assumed the area was not very pet friendly – boy, was I wrong! I have never met so many cat and dog lovers in my life!
I will do all I can to help our rescue partners find good homes for the animals they serve – this weekend, I broadcasted from the Petco in NMB, where the Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach held an adoption event. We had two adoptions, a dog and a cat, and generated a lot of interest for the shelter.
I know from experience there is nothing like the love from a rescue pet. My first rescue dog was Mickey, a cocker/chihuahua, followed by Dreams, the red merle Aussie, and Flower, the blue merle Aussie. They all have crossed to the Rainbow Bridge, but still live in my heart. Finally, most of you have heard about Irwin, my little feral cat who is now indoor only and the best buddy I’ve ever had.
