I’m embarking on an adventure later this week as I travel to Alabama for a friend’s wedding. I can’t wait to hit the open road, crank up my tunes and have some time for reflection.
My trip includes a brief stop in Greenville, SC to see family and then I’ll drive through Georgia to get to Madison, AL (near Huntsville). My dear friend Kim invited me and our other high school besties to her son’s wedding. Several of us are attending the event to show support and to have a mini-reunion! After the nuptials, I’ll drive through Chattanooga and on to Bristol, TN to see my Aunt Margie. I love spending time with my mama’s side of the family! The next leg of my trip is Raleigh, NC, where I lived before moving to Myrtle Beach — I’ll be seeing a couple of old friends there before heading back to the beach.
The travel bug hit me early in life. My parents loved driving us to new destinations all across the country. We also drove into Mexico once while we were visiting relatives in Texas. Our family loved an adventure! I never feel alone when I’m driving on vacation — I feel Mama and Daddy’s presence with every mile. I like to think they’re still guiding me on the road and through life. If I could drive to heaven and see them for just a moment, I surely would. I do believe I’ll see them again one day, but in the meantime, I have many roads to travel and new adventures to experience.
Prayers are appreciated while on the road May 17th-22nd — thank you!! I’m sure I’ll have a lot of stories to share when I return to Monnie in the Morning next week, xo
