SC-Cares in Georgetown is simply fascinating! I had the great honor of touring this animal sanctuary over the weekend and I’ll never forget it — in fact, I can’t wait to return!
Co-founders Cindy and Skip care for about 150 animals, many of which are exotic, troubled, previously neglected and unwanted. These special creatures will live out the rest of their lives there and will receive the compassionate care they deserve.
Some of the animals that call SC-Cares home — wolves, wolf-hybrids, exotic birds, reptiles, marsupials, horses, tortoises, feral canines, chickens, roosters, white tail deer, a llama and a cow named Mayflower.
I was enthralled watching Cindy interact with all of her “babies” – she is a very special person, full of love and compassion, but what impressed me the most was the fact that she knows every animal’s name…from Fuzzy the wolf-hybrid to Polly the cockatiel…every single one.
Visiting SC-Cares will change you…I highly recommend a trip there, but please schedule a tour. This non-profit organization has a small staff and several volunteers. What they do every day is admirable — please consider donating to this wonderful, magical sanctuary.
