It’s been about a month since my precious Irwin left this world and although I still miss my little tiger, I have made room in my home and heart for a new furbaby. Meet June Bug — I’ve been fostering her from the Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach.
After two weeks of fun and games, JB and I are ready to make a commitment! She’ll officially be my baby girl at the end of July!
June Bug is three-years-old and very sweet. It took her about 24 hours to feel comfortable in her new house — I was really worried after the first few hours because she wouldn’t come out from behind the sofa! Eventually, she ventured out and by the next day, she was sleeping in my bed.
She can never replace Irwin, but June Bug has already brought much joy into my life. I know in time I’ll feel so connected to her that I can’t imagine life without her, just as I did with Irwin.
I’m so glad we gave each other a chance and I encourage those who are hesitant to adopt, to give fostering a try — it’s a great way to make sure you’re ready to adopt and it also creates more space at the shelter for another baby looking for his or her furever home!
