With all the craziness going on, it’s hard to believe that life is still going on. That there’s still a little bit of normalcy. But it is, and there is!
For example, I recently moved into a new place with my boyfriend.
This is our first place together, and I’m excited! Especially now that the moving part is done.
Still have some unpacking to do… and quite a few more items to purchase too…but with all this new time on our hands, it shouldn’t take too long!
Leading up to the move, a lot of our friends and family members shared memories of their first places together.
Do you remember the first apartment (or house) you lived in with your significant other?
Cause I’ve heard some horror stories. Not in regards to their actual relationships – in fact, I’ve heard it was the best time of their life – but scary details about the places themselves!
As in different-colored carpet for each step of the stairs, windows so cheap that the curtains moved when the wind blew…even though the windows were CLOSED…, and walls so thin they knew EVERYTHING about those in the apartment next to them.
Like living in a 4-room square box, with no storage or A/C, termites as housemates, and a bed suite so large, in such a small area, they practically tripped into bed when they stepped in the bedroom.
Or sharing a single bed because that’s all they had, and living in a duplex where, to get from the kitchen to the living room, or vice versa, they had to walk through the bedroom!
Not to mention the lazy landlords, the shady neighbors, or annoying and miserable ones, the nasty and/or rundown housing and/or appliances, and more – ALL in addition to having to learn to live together and SHARE.
Thankfully, our place is pretty nice and quiet. Even if it is a little bare…and looks more like college-students live here than adults with full-time jobs.
But, I think we’re managing pretty well together all-around, especially during this quarantine, with no tv AND limited internet, and with what few possessions we do have thanks to our family and friends!
Yes – THANK YOU to all that have donated to our cause, aka our new home, because we really do appreciate it. On so many levels.
So, what was YOUR first place like with your SO? Let me know!
