LOVE me some cheese, and I’m always on the hunt for new types and brands to sample.
Normally though, I keep it pretty simple, inexpensive.
So I stick to the classics, like Mozzarella, Extra Sharp Cheddar and Swiss, from Food Lion or Walmart.
However, for Valentine’s Day, Sam and I splurged on the fancier stuff at Lowe’s.
We purchased Boars Head Cream Havarti Cheese With Dill, Tillamook Cheddar Smoked With Peppercorns and Yorkshire Wensleydale Cheese with Blueberries.
All were good, but ONE really stood out.
The blueberry one.
So DELICIOUS!
The cheese was a little crumbly, creamy, rich and when you got a blueberry, you’d get a POP, a burst, of sweetness and juiciness.
Sam and I agreed it was our favorite.
In our cheese-ventures, we’ve discovered the Bellavitano Merlot Cheese Wedge is amazing too.
There’s something about the texture…it has a slight crunch due to crystals, which forms from the natural aging process.
The balance between the sharper Parmesan cheese and the sweet notes of plum and berries from the Merlot is delicate and PERFECT.
What are some of your favorite cheeses – brands and types? What would you recommend?
For snacking and building charcuterie boards, especially!
